Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, memos, news clippings and government reports. Examples are: One letter (3/13/56) from Ivan A. Wood (Mgr., S.D. County Farmers, Inc.) & replies from Congressman Wilson (3/21/56) & his Admin. Asst. E.F. Terrar, Jr. (3/28/56) re/ problems in obtaining “sufficient numbers of supplemental farm workers for our membership under Public Law 78;” 3 letters (5/4, 5/7, & 5/10/56) from Ivan A. Wood & E.F. Terrar, Jr.’s reply (5/7/56) re/ local farm labor problem because of Mexican Government’s interruption of the recruitment of “Specials” & restrictions on their ID cards; 1 letter (5/11/56) from INS Commissioner Joseph M. Swing & attached copies of “comparative figures and graphs illustrating the problem from July 1, 1953, to the present” re/ “the illegal alien situation in the State of California . . . . By tight border control [a 1954 apprehension of 1500] has been reduced to approximately 50 per day;” 1 copy of a letter (5/16/56) from Congressman Wilson to Ivan A. Wood re/ a meeting with the Asst.
