Dickey, Congressman Wilson, Catherine C. Parham (Secretary, Wilson’s Washington Office), & Major General J.C. Lambert (The Adjutant General, U.S. Army) re/ Wilson’s assistance in obtaining an early discharge for Mr. Dickey & the young man’s intention of joining the Republican Party; phone message note, office note from Cathy, 2 Western Unionn telegrams, & 2 letters (Sept.-Oct. 1964) from Congressman Wilson, Brig. General Markey (Commanding General, Finance Center, U.S. Army), & El Cajon constituent Mrs. Bobby Montgomery re/ Wilson’s office staff helps a destitute Army wife with 5 children whose allotments were not arriving on time. The husband was stationed overseas; 1 letter (n.d.) from San Diego constituent Robert H. Owings & Wilson’s reply (10/20/64) re/ a concerned parent indicates his recently enlisted son has no insurance & suggests Congress take action on this for all service personnel; 5 letters (10/64) from San Diego constituent Mrs. Elizabeth Fullerton, Congressman Wilson, H.M. Webster (Mgr., V.A. Regional Office, Los Angeles), & Dr. H. Martin Engle (M.D., Dir., V.A. Center & Brentwood Hospital, Los Angeles) re/ Mrs. Fullerton’s attempts to have her father, William R. Folcke, remain at the Brentwood Hospital instead of being transferred to a private nursing home. He had been at the V.A. facility for “twenty-eight years.” The hospital staff countermanded the bureauracy, they concluded that “such a move would be inadvisable for medical reasons;” 5 letters (9/64) from San Diego constituent RMC Charles Crosby (U.S.N.), Congressman Wilson, LCDR A.J. Klein (Congressional Liaison Div., Office of the Secretary of the Navy), Catherine C. Parham (Secretary, Wilson’s Washington office), & Commander H.L. Jenkins (Dir., Personal Affairs Div., BuPers) re/ Mr. Crosby’s complaint about a directive from BuPers “that Commands make a report on the number of personnel who have registered, and who have not registered to vote.” BuPers clarified this, but whether it satisfied RMC Crosby is not indicated in the corresp.; 5 letters (Sept.-Oct. 1964) from San Diego constituent Mrs. Rose E. Desbrow, Congress-man Wilson, & Col. K.E. Adamson (Chief of Staff, HQ., U.S. Army Quartermaster Center, Fort Lee, VA.) re/ the “Court Martial case of my son Pvt. Wm. E. Desbrow,” a mother’s protest against the proceedings, Wilson’s assistance, & the Army’s response attempting to clarify the reasons for the Court Martial; 1 letter (10/3/64) from San Diego constituent Mrs. Louise Winston & attached copy of “Base Bulletin 1650,” HQ., Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, CA. Re/ a “Meritorious Mast” for Sgt. Louis Winston.
