Scope and Contents

A collection of letters that are filed from January to October: all are concerned with Social Security issues. They represent constituent concerns, Wilson responses, as well as comments from the Social Security Administration. Examples are: letters (Feb.-Mar.) re/ disability claims of a Chula Vista constituent; letters (Jan.-Feb. & Wilson questionnaire (10/59) re/ Charles A. Cook (Oak Grove Camp, Aguange, CA) received an unfavorable report as to his disability claim; stapled packet (Jan.-Mar.) re/ San Diego constituent Henry Gabbe, Wilson, the Social Security Administration and others comment on “discrimination against those who retired under social security prior to the 1950 amendments became effective;” stapled packet (July 1959-June 1960) re/ the claims for disability payments for a constituent’s mother; letters (June-July) re/ an unfavorable reply to a Julian constituent about her claims; letters (Mar.-July) re/ more constituent dissatisfaction over the inconsistency in the 1950-51 changes that seem to disregard amounts paid in and length of employment; letters (July-Aug.) re/ a constituent’s misunderstanding about the Social Security Fund is clarified; letters (July-August) re/ another constituent who did not pay in to the fund sufficient quarters to qualify for benefits; letters (May-Aug.) re/ wage credits for military service during and after World War II; letters (Apr.-Aug.) re/ constituent Mrs. Elizabeth McCann is helped by Wilson in obtaining her Social Security Disability; letters (Apr. 10 & 17, 1959 & Sept. 21, 1960) re/ El Cajon constituents obtain disability payments with Wilson’s help; letter (9/9/60) re/ inquiry from Lemon Grove attorney Kenneth A. Barwick for the case of John D. Brewer; stapled packet (July-Sept.) re/ “benefits due Mrs. Esther S. Faller” based on her husband’s earnings as a Chief Steward, USNR, retired, recently deceased; letters & office note (July - Sept.) re/ cutting through red tape to obtain benefits for a teen age adopted child from this constituent’s wife’s previous marriage; a stapled packet (Aug.-Oct.) re/ the Reverend James P. Bishop (Pastor, St. John’s Lutheran Church, El Cajon) aided Mrs. Aranka Konrath in obtaining benefits from her deceased husband’s Social Security account.
