Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, a telegram and other items: although these were filed from May 1962-Aug. 1962 in stapled batches, they include letters from earlier dates. Examples are: letters (Mar.-May ’62) re/ Wilson & the Social Security office respond to El Cajon constituent P.L. Shively’s complaint about a $2 difference between his monthly benefit and a friend’s; a stapled packet of correspondence (1/59-6/62) re/ Mrs. Gertrude Mary Jenkins, a Social Security recipient and the issue of becoming a County employee and not electing OASDI (Social Security) coverage; letters & news clipping (Jan.-Aug.’62) re/ Wilson assists Mrs. Lovie Traver of Los Angeles obtain disability benefits; letters (June-Aug. ’62) re/ Wilson assists San Diego constituent Leonard R. Larsen obtain disability benefits; a large stapled packet of correspondence (Apr. – Sept. ’62) re/ Wilson, Carpenters Local #2398 Federal Credit Union and the Social Security Dept. respond to Miss Mary B. Nelson’s need for disability benefits; letters & telegram (May-Sept. ’62) re/ National City constituent Mrs. Leona A. Parsley’s disability benefits; letters (Aug.-Oct. ’62) re/ S.D. constituent Howard S. Paris was unable to receive disability benefits, even with Wilson’s assistance; letters (10/62) and printed excerpt entitled “The Golden Years” re/ S.D. constituent M. L. Rahe’s suggestion that the retirement age be reduced to 62 was responded to by the House Committee on Ways and Means; a 1 page “Summary of H.R. as approved by the 87th Congress” (n.d.) from the office of Eugene J.Keogh (9th Cong. Dist., Brooklyn, N.Y.)
