Scope and Contents

A collection of letters and a news clippings: these are filed from October to March in stapled packets of letters and include items from 1992. Examples are: letters (9/62-10/63) re/ Wilson assists Mrs. Madeleine F. Phillips obtain disability aid; letters (July-Oct.) and news clipping re/ Wilson assists S.D. constituent E.R. Dunn in reappraising Social Security benefits – “we needed the money and how much it has gone for teeth, a contact lenses, etc.;” letters and “Request for Reconsideration” form (1962 & 1963) re/ S.D. constituent Harold D. Preston was unsuccessful in obtaining more disability benefits; packet of letters and “Hearing Examiner’s Decision” (June-Oct.’63) re/ El Cajon constituent Mrs. Dorothy O’Toole was successful in having her disability benefits approved; note and letters (June-July ’63) from El Cajon constituent Mrs. Lula E. Aubrey re/ “Dear Mr. Wilson – Thank you for your letter, I’m truly sorry I can’t qualify for continued Social Security. I will contact the Welfare dept.;” letters (July ’63) re/ Francis B. Gooch’s inquiry about recent legislation in Congress; letters (May-July ’63) re/ Mrs. Oma Bahlmann’s application for disability benefits; letters (Feb.-June ’63) re/ constituent John E. Keith – “We regret to enclose a letter dated June 14, with an attached report, from the Social Security Administration concerning your disability claim;” letters (Mar.-June ’63) re/ Mrs. Parlee Massey, her deceased son, WW2 veteran Rhoso Shears, who helped support her and her attempt to obtain his Social Security benefits was denied; letters (Apr.-June ’63) re/ Mrs. Barbara W. Vincent, her inquiry on behalf of her brother, George W. Winslow and reference to H. R. 2075; letters (Mar. & Apr.) re/ Wilson sends several pamphlets on Social Security and Veterans Pension Laws to S.D. constituent Mrs. Nellie Nowell; letters (Jan.-Apr. ’63) re/ R. F. Bruce’s inquiry about a Reader’s Digest article on the Old Order Amish sect choosing not to be covered by social security; letters (9/92 – 3/63) re/ Wilson assists constituent Albert L Kroll in his application to receive Social Security benefits.
