Scope and Contents

A collection of letters and resolutions that cover March to December: Examples are: a letter (5/18) from Romain Young (Executive Secretary, CA State Board of Agriculture) and Wilson’s reply re/ the Board on 5/18 adopted two resolutions dealing with the subject of upmost importance to the livestock and poultry industries – copies enclosed – the first supported Senator Humphrey’s S. 864 to provide greater protections, but the second was concerned with the federal budget being cut $5 million for brucellosis eradication program; letters (4/21 & 5/1) re/ an enclosed copy of the New Jersey State Assembly Joint Resolution No. 18 memorializing the Congress to use the term “health care;” letters (Apr. & May) and Assembly Joint Resolutions 14 relative to Civil Defense and 8 relative to the selection of the City of Anioch as to a site for an experimental saline water conversion plant; letters (Apr.) and Assembly Joint Resolution 9 relative to public inspection of crop allotments records in California; letters (Mar.) and “the resolution adopted by the Governor’s Fire conference on January 28” to increase forest fire control; letters (May) and “a copy of House Resolution No. 238 and Assembly Joint Resolution No. 16” re/ Home Rule for the District of Columbia and Auburn Dam on the American River; letters (May) and copies of Senate Joint Resolutions Nos. 6, 14 and 17 re/ repeal of the 22nd Amendment, support for continued funding of the Federal-Aid to Highway Act, concerns about more federal lands being designated wilderness; letters (April) from the R.E. Hazard Contracting Co. in opposition to a City of San Diego Council Resolution proposing to take $35,000 from City funds, to remodel and purchase equipment to be used as a Public Service Yard in the Midway area. Hazard and other property owners wanted this 8 acre parcel placed in private hands; Resolution No. 1087 – the City Council of Avalon commends the Civil Aeronautics Board for granting certification to Avalon Air Transport and Catalina Pacific Airlines; letters (June) and “a copy of Senate Joint Resolution No. 27 relative to protection of the North Pacific fisheries;” letters (June) and a copy of House Resolution No. 275 and Assembly Joint Resolution No. 21 re/ “anti-lynching legislation” and “state-federal relations in water development;” letters (May) and copies of Assembly Joint Resolutions Nos. 1 and 34 re/ federal military closing of fishing waters and a Long Range program for National Forests; letters (June) and copies of Senate Joint Resolutions Nos. 20 and 29 re/ “memorializing Congress to enact legislation prohibiting subliminal radio and television messages” and authorizing a demonstration sea water conversion plant in San Diego; several letters in June with copies of Senate Joint Resolutions 21, 22 and 28 re/ construction of roads by federal agencies, “a world fair in 1963” and “cessation of services by the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs” for needy California Indians; a letter (6/15) from Stewart C. Griswold (Capt. USAR-R, State Commander of the Military Order of the World Wars), Wilson’s reply (6/22) and a copy of “Resolution ‘Golden State National Cemetery – Improvements’” in support of H.R. 7078; letters (June and July) and copies of Assembly Joint Resolutions Nos. 17, 18, 23, 35, 36 and 41 re/ Congressional assistance for state veterans homes, the Trinity River Project, pricing gold on the free market, adoption of foreign-born children and unclaimed funds and property held by the Federal Government; letters (May) and copies of Senate Joint Resolutions Nos. 12 and 24 re/ cooperation between federal and local agencies and the California lumber industry depends upon sustained-yield cutting on the national forest lands; letters (Oct.) and “a copy of a resolution adopted by the State Board of Agriculture relative to Federal Funds for Federal-State Brucellosis Eradication Program;” a letter (12/10) from Wilson to Mack O. North (Grand Jury for the County of San Luis Obispo) re/ “Thanks forwarding a copy of your resolution ‘Aid To Needy Children.’”
