Scope and Contents

A collection of letters and resolutions from January to December, 1960: these follow the pattern described in previous folder digests of resolutions. Examples are: Wilson’s letter (1/19) to Miss Vera K. Gibson (County Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of Kern County) thanking her for sending a “copy of the resolution relative to the proposed Federal legislation re/ Federal construction of the San Luis Dam and Reservoir;” letters (2/60) re/ the Western Mining Council, Inc. of San Diego, sent a resolve to the County Board of Supervisors “opposing the acquisition of said land or lands [in the Borrego Valley] by the State Division of Parks and Beaches;” letters (3/4 & 3/9) and House Resolution No. 30 re/ “compensating the Philippine Scouts for their service rendered din World War II;” letters & resolution (Mar.- Apr.) re/ the CA State Board of Agriculture “Amended Federal Regulation on Interstate Recruitment Farm Workers” in opposition to housing required for family workers; letters (3/21 & 4/2) and attached copy of 5 resolutions adopted by the Interstate Conference on Water Problems (1/30/60 in Chicago); several stapled copies of letters and resolutions (Mar.-May) covering California Assembly and Senate issues; letters (6/30 & 7/14) and attached “copies of [18] Resolutions adopted by the Western Association of State and Fish Commissions at their Salt Lake meeting;” letters and resolution(Sept.) re/ the CA State Board of Agriculture’s “Inspection of Meats Imported from Foreign Countries;” Wilson letter and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors’ resolution re/ “Thank you for forwarding a copy . . . relative to the establishment of a laboratory for air research at the University of California in Riverside, California;” letters (10/28 & 11/2) re/ S.D. Sheriff Bert Strand wrote Wilson informing him that the CA State Sheriff’s Assoc. had unanimously passed a resolution endorsing state Proposition Number Five, and protesting the discontinuance of the Un-American Activities Committee; letters (10/19 & 11/1) and a copy of the CA State Board of Agriculture resolution re/ “Pear Tree Decline;” letters (12/8 & 20) and enclosed resolutions adopted by the Association of Western State Engineers indicating conservative state rights concepts in relation federal authority as water and wilderness preservation.
