Scope and Contents

A collection of letters & other items – from January to December, but also contain letters from 1958 and 1959 concerning income tax issues. Examples and topics are: letters (7/59-2/60) re/ constituent Mr. Mariano Calderon and his income tax liabilities; stapled packet of letters (11/59-2/60) re/ La Mesa constituent Mrs. Kathryn Atwood (a widow) and Wilson’s assistance in helping her resolve some issues with the IRS; letters (2/60) re/ Wilson assists S.D. constituent D. R. Nowlin with income tax return problem; letters (11/59 – 2/60) re/ Wilson sends S.D, constituent L. F. William a letter from the Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means to clarify issues raised by Williams; letters (Feb. & Mar.) re/ Wilson to William J. Almgren - “You have no doubt by this time received your 1958 income tax refund check;” a large stapled packet of letters, a petition of protest signed by 50 of his constituents and copies of Wilson’s letters to them acknowledging their protest against “taxing the ‘rental value of our homes;’” letters (Oct.-Nov.) re/ audit issues for Robert F. Wiest (Hill, Richards & Company); letters (Sept. – Nov.) re/ San Diego constituent Mrs. Alma Brown, her request to Wilson for help to correct what she termed a gross miscarriage of justice on the part of the local income tax office” and letters from the IRS. Her last letter (11/12/60) to Wilson indicates “CONGRATULATIONS UPON YOUR VERY RECENT VICTORY;” letters (Jan., Feb. & Nov.) re/ an IRS regulation which would require non-profit organizations to publish their scientific findings was supported by Testing Engineers, Incorporated.
