Scope and Contents

A collection of letters & a copy of Treasury Dept. Form 2210: these are filed from January to March, but also include communications from 1959. As from previous tax folders, these are constituent concerns being addressed by Wilson. Examples are: letters (9/59-1/60) re/ Wilson assists Mrs. Marion R. Keller in obtaining tax emptions for her minor children; letters (2/26 & 3/13) re/ “Dear Mr. Wilson, I wish to thank you for obtaining my income tax return so soon after my three years effort to do so;” a copy of Wilson’s letter (3/15 & 30/60) to Leonard Lee Allen, Jr. (Miramar Air Station) “regarding your income tax return;” letters (Feb.) re/ Wilson assists William B. Jr. & Mrs. Aileen Sprague of Chevy Chase, Maryland obtain their 1958 income tax refund; letters (Mar.) -- with Wilson’s help Mrs. Juanita Sherrill of Spring Valley found out from the IRS that her husband, a spray painter, could not deduct his coveralls as expenses. The IRS letter goes into details about what work clothes are nondeductible; letters (3/26 & 3/31) re/ H.R. 391 affecting retirement income credit for income tax purposes; letters (2/29 & 4/22) re/ thanking Wilson his assistance in obtaining Joseph J. Altschaeffl’s 1958 income tax refund; letters (Jan.-Mar.) & “Statement Relating To Underpayment of Estimated Income Tax By Individuals”- IRS Form 2210 re/ the problems of Virgil K. Smith, a fishing boat owner, & IRS deductions from his wife’s income; letters (Mar.-May) re/ Gordon Stewart, with Wilson’s help finally will receive his 1955 income refund of $54.43; letters (Feb.-May) re/ the complications for Theodore A. Gayas of El Cajon with the IRS in terms of estimating tip income; letters (Jan,-Mar,) re/ bankruptcy, IRS liens, protests from business groups & bills H.R.7914 & 7915.
