Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, telegrams, office notes, newsletters and other items; these are filed in random fashion from June to Dec. Examples are: letters & notes re/ treatment of servicemen’s pay; 1963 income tax return for Wilson constituents Mr. & Mrs. Thompson; stapled packet of letters re/ list of bills passed this year pertaining to income tax; letter (6/24/64) to James Utt from William Ivans (Cohu Electronics) re/ collision risk and glider aircraft; 5 page letter (5/19/64) from The Soaring Society of America, Inc. to Acting Chief, Air Traffic Agency, Washington, D.C. re/ federal attempts to place more controls on glider pilots; several letters related to tax issues for San Diegans – owed or refunds; humorous comment from Bud Wilson (Insurance Agency, Chula Vista) re/ “Whatever happened to the good old jokes everyone used to tell about elephants and grapes. They’ve been supplanted by LBJ, Lady Bird and the racial problems. A sad commentary on American humor!;” letters (10/64) re/ Mrs. Wm. Tucker thanks Wilson for help in her receiving a tax refund plus interest; letters (May-Sept.’64) re/ problems with IRS and Wilson’s assistance; letter (12/30/64) re/ Commission of Internal Revenue To Members of Congress – sending complimentary copies of the new 1965 editions of tax payer guides; Mrs. Beverley Campbell of La Mesa thanks Wilson for his assistance in obtaining an income tax refund; letters & newsletter (Dec.’64) re/ Robert W. Bruce (Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. San Francisco & Wilson discuss article about telephone excise tax in recent issue of Review; telegram & letters (11/64) re/ President’s action on excise tax on various items, cre/ IRS letter to John H. Robertson concerning his 1960 income tax return check; letters (Nov.-Dec. ’64) re/ problems for constituent Charles T. Tucker’s 1962 tax return, Wilson’s help and IRS response.
