Scope and Contents

A large collection of letters, news clippings and other items; these are filed in random fashion and mainly cover Jan.-July ’65, but also include some from 1964). Examples are: letters (Feb.-Mar. ’65) re/ comments related to $100 tax proposal on Americans traveling abroad; news clipping (The Daily Pilot, n.d.) re/ “Treasury Probe Forecast Foundations’ Laxity Hit;” letters (June ’64-Feb.’65) re/ tax treatment of retired military personnel and their beneficiaries under the Retired Serviceman’s Family Protection Plan; packet of letters (May ’64-‘Feb. ’65) re/ notice of additional tax to be assessed, commentary from Dr. Sam Peck, MD & article “Cry Baby” that was published in the San Diego County Medical Society, Bulletin; letters (Jan.-Feb. ’65) re/ Wilson inquiry to IRS on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Point Loma; letters (Dec.’64-Jan. ’65) re/ Del Mar race track and 20% tax on admissions to events; letters (Jan.-Feb. ’65) re/ Wilson inquiry to IRS on behalf of Mrs. John Valerio & estate tax problem; letters (12/64 & 1/65) and copy of “Provisions in Mills-Byrnes Legislation Imposing Tax Liability on Builders, Contractors, Financial Institutions and others for Proper Tax Withholding by Employers in the Construction Industry” re/ fears expressed by constituents and Wilson’s assistance; stapled packet of letters (Jan.-May ’65) re/ tax court decision affecting Wilson constituent; letters (May-June ’65) re/ Praise to Wilson by constituent for his help in tax deduction problem for her son; letters (May ’65) re/ Wilson to Mrs. Tangorra- “You will be interested in the enclosed letter dated May 26 from the Internal Revenue Service concerning income taxes of Roman Catholic Priests serving in the Armed Services;” stapled packet of letters, memorandum, office notes (Feb.-May ’65) re/ tax issues for single people and split-marriage couples; letters (April –June ’65) re/ Channel Six, XETV, Bay City Television’s 12th year -1953-1965 and their production of Man of the Sea & other program &, personnel comments ; letters & memorandum (5/65) re/ interest of Sea World in repealing the current entertainment excise tax;” letters (Mar.-Apr. ’65) re/ residence status in the U.S. for grandchild of a constituent and tax deduction allowed; stapled packet of letters re/ P.W.
