Scope and Contents

A collection of letters and a copy of Subversive Control Board Eleventh Annual Report; these are filed in random fashion covering most of 1962. Examples are: a letter (5/1/62) from Fred T. Foster (Assist. to the Superintendent) and Wilson’s reply (5/8/6) re/ Foster’s request for copies of the HUAC annual report for the years following 1953; letters (7/16, 18 & 25/ 62) re/ James M. Obenschain has formed an anti-communist study group; letters (5/3 & 5/16) request for documents prepared by HUAC; letters (5/31 & 6/6/62) re/ Miss Terry Willis (Junior in High School) requests materials to help her fight communism; letters (12/61 & 1/62) re/ request for information on communism from El Cajon High School student Janice Cover (Lakeside); a letter (5/62) from constituent Mrs. Doris B. Kraus and Wilson’s reply 6/1/62) re/ Kraus’s opposition to: Medicare, U.N. Bonds, Farm Program, Anfuso Arms Registration Bill, Common Market and Withholding Tax on Interest; 2 page copies of “Steps Taken By The Department of Justice to Enforce the Provisions of the Internal Security Act in Accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court in the Communist Party Case;” letters (July, Aug. & Nov. ’62) re/ requests for hearings on muzzling the military, Senate Reports on Military Education and Speech Review Policies and congratulations to Wilson for his re-election; letters & postcard (May, June, July & Aug, ’62) requests for documents prepared by HUAC & “Guide to Subversive Organizations and Publications;” letters (Apr. & May ‘62) requests from Arnold S. Higgens and E.H. Marriner for Guide to Subversive Organizations and a report entitled “Communist Penetration of Radio Facilities – Part 2;” letters (Jan. and Apr. ’62) re/ James Caterina (Coronado) requested copies of the HUAC report for 1960 and 1961; letters (12/61, 1/62, 2/62 & 3/62) requests for list of subversive organizations and the control of subversive groups; letter (1/10/62) from Dorothy Lee McCullough (Chairman, Subversive Activities Control Board) and accompanying copy of its Eleventh Annual Report.
