Affairs, SDG&E) & attached copies from the Federal Register, Vol. 45, No. 145, Friday July 25, 1980, Rules and Regulations,” pp. 49585-49586 re/ “an urgent protest to what equates with the funding of the intervenors in licensing proceedings [for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission];” photocopy of a letter from John M. Burns (Manager, Licensing & Environment, SDG&E) re/ “Statement of SDG&E on Visibility Protection For Federal Class I Areas As Proposed in 45FR34762, May 22, 1980;” 1 letter (5/9/80) from Ruth C. Clusen (Asst. Sec. for the Environment, D.O.E.) to Wilson & attached copy of the Dept. of Energy’s draft environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), DOE/EIS-0067, 230 kv International Interconnection, San Diego, California to Tijuana, Mexico. “The proposed project is the construction of a 230kv transmission line from the Miguel Substation to the international border [10 miles], connecting SDG&E with the CFE for the purposes of economic exchanges of power and increasing reliability;” stapled packet containing information from SDG&E News Dept. (3/2/80) re/ regulation, inflation, price of imported oil & projected 50% increase in gas & electric rates by Dec. 1980. Includes “Rate Adjustment Mechanism Fact Sheet;” photocopy from The New York Times (11/29/79) re/ “Technology...Geothermal Energy Gaining;” photocopy of news article by Jane Weisman Stein, “Expert Urges Rural N-Plant Siting,” The San Diego Union (1/25/80, B-5) re/ the Sundesert Site Near Blythe, CA & for safety’s sake the “San Onofre nuclear units would have been ‘back in the hills’ of Camp Pendleton...according to noted nuclear energy authority Dr. Alvin Weinberg.”
