Asst.), HMM, & LWL, 2 photographs, 1 copy of Mains’l Haul (Vol., 1, No. 1, Sept. 1964) & 2 Star of India broachers re/ descriptive information, list of items needed for this ship & humorous commentary from LWL – such as two items drive the Maritime Museum Assn. “nuts . . . . the goddam parking meters in front of the Star” & “They need a full set of sails” – the photos illustrated this denuded look; a collection of letters & office notes (Mar. 1965) from Edgar Gillenwaters, Congressman Wilson, Louise Lynch (Chula Vistta constituent and friend of Wilson) & 1 news clipping – Beverly Beyette, “And She Shines Right Back ‘Old Salt’ Fall In Love With The Star of India,” The San Diego Union, Mar. 23, 1965 re/ more details on obtaining materials, assistance & other memorabilia for the Star of India; 1 memo & 2 letters (Ap. 1965) from Louis Lynch & RAdm. (Ret.) E.M. Eller (Dir. of Naval History, Office of the CNO, Dept. of the Navy) re/ help from the Navy as to support for the Star of India – “This splendid ship well fits in with San Diego’s great maritime heritage and future;” 4 letters & 1 Memo (Ap.-May 1965) from Robert P,. Multhauf (Chairman, Dept. of Science and Technology (U.S. National Museum, Smithsonian Institution), Edgar Gillenwaters, Louise Lynch, Congressman Wilson & C.C. Woodworth (President, Maritime Museum Assn. of San Diego) re/ further attempts to locate “appropriate historical articles that could be loaned or donated to this vessel.”
