Scope and Contents

A collection of company brochures, letters, telegrams, memorandums, and informational pamphlets. Examples are: A small, stapled packet containing office note to “Boss,” copy of letter from Congressman Wilson to Paul H. Nitze (Sec. of the Navy), a letter from Philip W. Kelleher (Counsel, Armed Services Committee) & p. 7344 “from the transcript of the hearing “for H. R. 965-1964-65 Procurement Bill re/ “the Australian JINDIVIK drone target ... which is in competition with the Ryan BQM-34;” one postal card from constituent Mrs. Ben Duffy & Congressman Wilson’s reply (7/16 & 8/6/64) re/ “my husband has told me that the XV-5A Vertical take-off plane is the finest aircraft he has worked on-- and he has been in aircraft in San Diego for 30 years;” one Western Union telegram from T. Claude Ryan (Chairman of the Board, Ryan Aeronautical Co.) to Congressman Wilson (7/16/64) re/ “U.S. Army XV-5A ... made its first hovering flights at Edwards Air Force Base this morning;” large packet containing office note & memorandum to Congressman Wilson from Leon Parma (Admin. Asst. to Wilson) (7/1 & 7/2/64) re/ “Sec. of the Army is planning to give the Doppler contract to the Canadian firm on the basis that their product doesn’t black out over the target,” suggestions from Congressman Mendel Rivers are to lobby to retain Doppler with American firms to save our national industry in this area of expertise & attached copies of “Synopsis - Army Doppler Evaluation and Analysis,” “Inter-Department Correspondence, May 14, 1964, U.S. Army Doppler Evaluation - Forward Planning;” 1 copy of “V/STOL Challenge A Success Story By Ryan, 25 June 1964, 27 pages; one Western Union telegram from Robert Jackson (Pres., Ryan) to Wilson (6/5/64) thanking the congressman “for all you have done;” one copy of a letter from Congressman Wilson to Congressman Robert L.F. Gehres (Corporate Manager, Security & Civic Affairs, Ryan) to Wilson (3/14/61) re/ “I am sending you 9 of our folding ‘interim secretaries’ such as I gave you .... I’d particularly like to have ‘Uncle Carl’ Vinson and Mr. Hebert each receive one if you think that advisable;” 1 copy of letter from Congressman George Huddleston, Jr. to Wilson (3/3/61) thanking him “for sending me a copy of the Annual Report of the Ryan Aeronautical Company;” 1 note to Congressman Wilson from Leslie Gehres (Ryan) (2/8/61), copy of news release from Aero-space Industries Assoc. (2 p.) & copy of letter from General Orval R. Cook (USAF, Ret.& Pres. Aerospace Industries Association) (1/12/61) re/ “the possible expiration in 1962 of the Renegotiation Act of 1951, the law which allows the Federal Government to renegotiate defense contracts where it believes industry’s profits to be excessive;” copies of corresp.
