Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, memos, notes & promotional literature. Examples are: One letter from Burt F. Raynes (Pres., Rohr Corp.) & Congressman Wilson’s reply (including his draft copy) (Ap.-May 1969) re/ “You are the wave of the future in modern manufacturing techniques;” 1 letter from Larry I. Peeples (P.R. Manager, Rohr) & Wilson’s reply (5/69) re/ sending Wilson “a pretty good color shot of the plant and part of the South Bay;” copies of Congressman Wilson’s letter to Mr. Peeples & office notes (4/69) re/ no action taken on H. R. 16996, as introduced by Congressman King in 1966, which “would have suspended U. S. tariffs on certain airplane parts;” 2 page letter from R. D. Hall (Div. Manager, Rohr) to Congressman Wilson (2/24/69) re/ “overseas procurement of Antenna structures” for both commercial and military purposes & the potential lost to the U. S, of this production capacity; letters from J. H. Famme (V.P., Engineering, Rohr) to Congressman Wilson & to Senator George Murphy (3/11/69) re/ “Your support for our Corporate activities continues to be most satisfying;” 1 copy of The Rohr Corporation, Sept. 1968 (a 25 page color booklet) & accompanying letter from J. H. Frame (2/17/69) re/ promotional material showing Rohr’s management staff, production facilities and numerous manufactured products for military and commercial use; 1 copy of 3 page letter from J. H. Famme to Congressman Harley O. Staggers (Chairman, House Commerce Committee) & copy of Congressman Wilson’s letter to Framme (8/67) re/ information on aircraft noise abatement being developed by Rohr Corp.; 1 copy of a letter (10/21/65) from Congressman Wilson to Fred H. Rohr & office note from Bud to Ed re/ “Just wanted to drop you a note of appreciation for providing transportation for the Chula Vista Boys who brought back the petition to the President endorsing his stand in Vietnam;” 1 copy of a brief letter from Edgar M. Gillenwaters (Adm. Asst. to Wilson) to Burt Raynes (Rohr) (4/22/65) re/ “proposed new winter sports area that may encompass a monorail transportation system;” 1 copy of a letter (4/3/65) from John A. Baker (Assistant Secretary of Agriculture) to Congressman Wilson re/ Wilson’s “request to the National Park Service for information concerning a proposed winter sports area east of Porterville, California ... at Mineral King in the Sequoia National Forest;” stapled copies of 6 pages of Wilson office notes & photocopy of a letter from John A. Carstarphen, Jr. (Chief Clerk, House Committee on Science and Astronautics) to Congressman Donald Rumsfeld (Ill.) (2/26/65) re/ Rumsfeld’s inquiry letter (2/24/65) on “The NASA Solid Propellent Rocket Program;” stapled packet containing corresp. from Edgar M. Gillenwaters, Charles F. Ducander (Ex. Dir. & Chief Counsel, House Committee on Science & Astronautics), John A. Carstarphen, Jr., B. F.
