Summary Note
In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States. On March 16, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 34, 1B47. This tape was found to contain the following: Although no specific information regarding the murder of Congressman RYAN is contained in the tape, there is information that indicates the group’s propensity for violence. Counter @ 60-95: Reference is made to the son of SIDNEY DINAVIL [phonetic) who served four and one-half years at Vacaville for the shooting of a policeman in Oakland, California. It was noted that this person, whose address is given as 758-61st Street, Oakland, California, is skilled in making bombs and consequently might be of use to the Church at sometime. There is no summary or transcript of this recording, but a full index is available on the Alternative Considerations of Jonestown website.
