In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of the United States Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording of radio transmissions on amateur radio frequencies was furnished to the FBI by (name deleted). (A marginal note indicates the words were deleted under Freedom of Information Act exemption b7d, "investigatory records compiled for law enforcement purposes … [and which] disclose the identity of a confidential source…") On March 7, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B46 #31. This tape was found to contain the following: Different persons (both male and female) talking to a male radio operator about the "community" and the agricultural project. There was talk of relatives, schooling, and gratefullness [sic] for the opportunity given them or their relatives to be part of the community. It appears that a female is dictating a speech to a male regarding philosophical attack on the community by its enemies. This tape was reviewed, and nothing was contained thereon which was considered to be of evidentiary nature or beneficial to the investigation of Congressman RYAN. There is no summary or transcript of this recording, but a full index is available on the Alternative Considerations of Jonestown website.
