Summary Note

Tribute dedicated to Judge Earl Ben Gilliam by the Earl Ben Gilliam Bar Association Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Dinners. The video shows various clips honoring the legacy of the first African American Judge of the San Diego county. First clip is from channel 8 interviewing various members of the bar association who portray Judge Gilliam as a true mentor for the community. Members also describe how Judge Gilliam made many contributions not only to the San Diego community but also to the community of African American lawyers by treating them with respect and helping them thrive for success. The next clip shows various known and unknown friends of Gilliam such as Reverend George Walker Smith. Each one describes the kind of person Gilliam was as a friend and a colleague.
