Summary Note
Statement and report of arrest written by Charles C. Collins, former Dean of Instruction at Grossmont College in San Diego. The statement expresses Collins’ moral sentiments regarding racial discrimination as a justification of his participation in protest actions with the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). The report is a detailed account of the events of August 13, 1964, when Collins was arrested by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and subsequently intimidated by officers while in jail.
