Items from a scrapbook including a photograph of Harold Brown and telegrams congratulating him on Harold Brown Day. The bulk of this folder consists of clippings from assorted news publications covering the following topics: reports on activities of the San Diego chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), particularly its protest actions against Bank of America’s discriminatory employment practices and Congressman Lionel Van Deerlin’s opposition to the seating of Adam Clayton Powell in Congress; a regular newspaper column called “Speaking Out” written by Harold Brown; race relations in the United States; and the assassination of President John F.
