Summary Note

Sackman writes daily about the weather, the mundane activities of camp life (such as building winter quarters), and the movements of his company and regiment. This volume also includes a description of his experiences during the battle of Lewisburg, Virginia on May 23, 1862 [in what would become West Virginia in 1863].
