Summary Note
In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States. On June 7, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B100-56. This tape was found to contain the following: Jonestown sing-along with Reverend JIM JONES featuring socialist songs for the benefit of DON FREED, who was the guest of honor. FREED gives a speech which is partially drowned out as his speech was taped over by music. FREED praises the people and JIM JONES at Jonestown. FREED goes over various conspiracy theories. JONES then lectures to the people. There is no summary or transcript of this recording, but a full index is available on the Alternative Considerations of Jonestown website.
