The Lauren C. Post Papers (1917-1977) document Dr. Lauren Post’s involvement with San Diego State College servicemen in World War II as well as his professional output as professor of geography at San Diego State. The collection includes correspondence, essays, monographs, programs, news clippings, and photographs.

The collection is divided into two series, arranged alphabetically: World War II San Diego State Servicemen Files (1943-1953) and Professional Files (1939-1978). Of particular note is an essay written by Post about San Diego State men and women who served in World War II, with a focus on the 134 Aztecs who were killed in action during the war. Professional Files primarily consists of essays and monographs written by Post. The series includes extensive documentation of his Santa Fe Trail trip, including a travelogue, essays, and photographs. Also included in this series is a folder of Post’s personal documents, which contains his Navy enlistment and discharge papers, dated 1919.
