Scope and Contents The 19th Century Newspaper Collection consists of miscellaneous issues of various American newspapers published during the nineteenth century. Part of the collection was used as a teaching tool at San Diego State University by two professors of communications in their respective classes: Barbara Hartung, Ph.D., now professor emerita, and Diane L.
