Scope and Contents
Two copies of H. R. 2991, "A Bill For the relief of Francisco Carapia Gaytin . . . may be admitted to the United States for permanent residence. . . .," a copy of "Private Law 85- 58, 85th Congress, H. J. Res. 288, July 17, 1957 Joint Resolution To waive certain provision of section 212 (a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act in behalf of certain aliens" and extensive correspondence (1956-1957) related to this legislation. "Married to a lawfully admitted alien, Mrs. Amor Rico Carpia," Francisco Carapia Gaytin lived in Tijuana but had four children all of which were citizens of the United States. He was assisted by Congressman Wilson's bill in being permitted to become a resident in the U.S.
