Scope and Contents
Copy of H. R. 3002 – "A Bill For the relief of Carl F. Petersen. . . . That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay . . . to Carl C. Peterson, of San Diego, California, the sum of $20,000, for permanent injuries sustained by him as a result of an operation performed on him on April 18, 1923, at the United States Veterans Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in which a foreign body (a sponge) was negligently left in his abdomen and so remained until discovered and removed during a subsequent operation on July 9, 1948."
