Scope and Contents
The small collection of letters, 2 telegrams and a Resolution are as follows: a letter (7/22/57) from Steve Fletcher (Ed Fletcher Company) & Wilson’s reply (7/26/57) re/ The Fletcher Company’s concern about property they own near the Klamath River and the prospect that a dam may be built in this area. Wilson indicated “that there is no development imminent;” letters & telegrams (Apr. & May 1957) re/ concerns of Fred W. Simpson (Chairman, Colorado River Board of California (Wilson too) “toward award of contract for construction of Glenn Canyon Dam” with letters of reply from the Office of the Secretary of the Dept. of Interior & the Bureau of Reclamation of the Dept. of the Interior; a letter (7/1/59) from H. W. Loo (Chairman, Imperial Dam Advisory Board) and attached “Resolution” – 6/15/59 re/ opposition to “report #424” for “consolidating Regions III and IV of the Bureau of Reclamation;” a letter (7/3/59) from William Y. Murphey (President Associated Farmers of the Lower Colorado River) & enclosed copy of “Los Angeles Report on Government Land” re/ “a brief explanation of the situation of the federal land in California and Arizona and its affect upon pioneer farmers.” This is an appeal to Wilson for “judicious aid to assist current Colorado River landholders to acquire patent deeds to land . . . .;”
