Scope and Contents

A collection of letters and resolutions similar to previous folders in this series; these are filed from May 1962 back to April 1961. Examples are: letters (4/62 & 5/3/62) and attached copy of Senate Joint Resolutions Nos. 3 and 5 re/ “aid to students of foreign countries attending colleges and universities in the United States” and the “establishment of a Youth Conservation Corps;” letters (3/2 & 3/13/62) and a copy the Resolution adopted by the State of California Fish and Game Commission memorializing Congress to acquire additional public access to Lake Tahoe; the remainder of the letters and resolutions in this folder cover July to February 1961 and are in stapled packets of varying numbers. Some examples and topics are; letters (7/11 & 6/27) and copies of Assembly Joint Resolutions 34-46, and House Resolutions 412 and 433 re/ cutting down trees in the Presidio, Pacific Coast Ship Builders, use of airspace within the interstate highway system, land for Fort Funston, commemorative stamp to honor John Muir, Project Mohole, watersheds for the Central Valley and San Francisco Bay and several other topics; letters (7/10 & 6/27) and Senate Resolution No. 202 “Relating to a federal fish hatchery in Nevada;” letters (6/28, 23 & 22) and copies of Senate Joint Resolutions Nos. 47 and 50 and Senate Resolution No.201 re/ farm program, future use of military airports and King Range National Conservation Area; other topics in packets include: (June – March), confidential information, disposal of certain surplus federal lands, office of saline water in the Dept. of Interior, federal income taxation of the interest derived from public bonds, establishment of a youth conservation corps, Arab League boycott, Nubian Temple, stockpiling food, clothing and medicines, milk program expansion, spelling commission, Auburn Dam and Folsom Canal, eradicate sheep scabies, east side division of Central Valley Project, pollution of Klamath River, President’s message on natural resources, California Indian Lands, imports of ceramic tile, relocating California Avenue in Washington D.C., construction of Mammoth Pass road, international exposition in 1966, Camp Matthew rifle range, political activities of public employees, federal aid to education in segregated schools, income tax incentives to encourage foreign investments and acquiring and establishing the John Muir Home as a national monument; copies of the California March 9, 1961 Assembly Daily Journal.
