Scope and Contents

A collection of letters, a brochure, news clippings, memos, official notices, office notes, a periodical excerpt & other items. These are not filed chronologically. Examples are: letters (7/20 & 7/23/64) from Congressmen Thor C. Tollefson & Bob Wilson & attached copy of "the brochure on the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard at Bremerton, Washington; letters (June-July, 1964) & news clipping (S.D. Union) from constituent Mrs. Dianne F. Hudnall & Margaret M. Young (Wilson's Secretary) re/ an overdue bill for a mechanical repair on a government vehicle and complaints about foreign aid and the Johnson administration; letters & notes (Apr.-May 1964) from Congressman Wilson, his Admin. Asst. Edgar M Gillenwaters & RAdm. J. Floyd Dreith (CHC, BuPers) re/ age limitations for appointment to the Chaplain Corps; Public Notice (4/10/64) from the U.S. Army Engineers District, Los Angeles re/ the establishment of a noninterference/restricted area at U.S. Naval Degaussing Station, San Diego & map; attached copy of List No. 6 (9/63) for San Diego County and Vicinity – an 18 page listing of all to be notified by the above Public Notice; letters (Dec. 1963- Feb. 1964) from James W. Elliott (Chairman, Legislative Service Committee, Imperial Beach Branch 289, Fleet Reserve Assn. & Wilson re/ support for appropriations for USNAAS Ream Field; a letter (2/17/64)) from constituent Milt Reynolds (Yacht Sales) & Wilson's reply (3/4/64) re/ "the problem facing permanent and transient yachts resulting from the constant blowing of tubes by the Navy's moored ships;" a copy of an editorial, "McNamara Endangers Navy," San Diego Union (2/3/64); a stapled packet re/ "Subj: NAS North Island Repair and Improvement Projects Nos. C10-63 RELOCATE OF PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE SHOPS TO BLD. 343 and C11-63, RELOCATION OF PUBLIC WORKS PAINT SHOP TO BLDG. 125; a copy of "Compiled by the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Department January 1964 Navy – Flag Officer Shore Commands" & "Major Captain Commands, San Diego Area;" other topics and issues in this folder are: letters (Feb.-Mar. 1964) re/ a constituent's interest in the "plausibility of converting conventionally-powered ships to nuclear power" & the status of the GI Bill; letters (12/63) re/ invite for Wilson to attend personnel inspection at NAS North Island; letters (Apr.-June 1963) & attached copy of Tocsin (Vol. 4, No. 19, May 8, 1963) re/ extensive commentary on World War I, the famous war painting, Return of the Mayflower & commentary from the anti-communist newsletter Tocsin; a packet of corresp.
