A collection of letters, telegrams, memorandum, resolution & other items. These are not filed chronologically. Examples are: letters & telegram (Jan.-Sept. 1959) re/ Navy laundry workers wages and rights; a letter (3/25/60) from Miss J.B. Baker to Senator Claire Engle & attached copy of Wage Information on Laundry Positions" re/ "As a career federal civil servant, and a member of the American Federation of Government Employees, I heartily enlist your support" for legislation to provided salary adjustments and employee group rights; a copy of a bill introduced by Congressman Wilson "To provide increases in compensation for food service workers and laundry workers under the Department of the Navy employed at Naval Hospitals," 86th Cong., 2nd Sess.; a loose collection of office notes, a business card & a letter (3/60) re/ A.F.G.E. Chrisman (Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Hospital, San Diego) & Wilson's reply 2/27/60) re/ information about the pay scales in the hospital laundry; Memorandum to Leon From the Boss (3/23/60) re/ "Jaynie Baker, who is head of the AFGE Council of San Diego, called me about the laundry workers problem which has been plaguing us;" copies of H.R. 10659 & 7029 (Feb. & May, 1960); packet of letters (Mar.-May 1960) regarding responses to Miss Jaynie Baker's recent trip to Washington and formulating steps to correct the wage problem; a packet of letters (5/60) from constituents and Wilson's replies re/ wage situation at the Naval Hospital; stapled packet of letters & "San Diego County Laundry Wage Schedule" (1960) re/ difficulty of comparing wage schedules in the County Hospital with the Naval Hospital; a letter (5/18/60) from Wilson & Jaynie Baker's response to "Dear 'Man of Action'" re/ politics and other topics such as "military vs. civilian manpower at the Amphibious Base; letters (May-July 1960) & "Resolutions" from the AFGE convention in San Diego re/ issues of safety, wages & other problems.
